OUR STORY
From the moment Yohahn saw Dorothy walking in late for a job induction, he knew she was special. They were both completing their final year at university at the time but unfortunately, they were both fired from said university job. However, this did not keep them apart. They continued to connect through playing music and cultural dancing which to this day, still forms an important part of their lives together. As university came to an end, life took Dorothy to Spain and Yohahn to Glasglow, however they both arrived in London a year later. They remained friends for a couple of years before realising the person they had both been searching for was right in front of them. Their roles reversed and it was now Yohahn who arrived late for most encounters. Starting to understand this cultural difference, Dorothy would simply take school marking with her while she waited (true story). It was hard for Dorothy to mind when Yohahn always arrived with his infectious energy and sweet smile. COVID hit and their relationship turned to long phone calls and playing games together online. Dorothy worked out how to silently complete house chores while ensuring Yohahn thought he was receiving her undivided attention. And Yohahn… After many staycations due to the aftermath of COVID along with an Indian passport, Dorothy and Yohahn soon fell in love. Who new Bournemouth could be so romantic? Yohahn realised that as long as he was with Dorothy, it didn’t matter where they were (Dorothy still wanted to be in Spain). Fast forward to Christmas just over a year later and Yohahn takes Dorothy to Goa for the first time. They went to midnight mass in the same church where the ceremony will be held and spent many hours swimming, playing cards and drinking feni (Goa’s local drink) at Pedro’s shack where the beach day will be held. We are excited to celebrate our journey with you and show you some of our favourite and meaningful spots in Goa.

Travel FAQs
How do I travel from the airport to Goan Heritage Hotel/my accommodation?
The best way to travel from either Dabolim or Manohar airport to the hotel is via taxi. There are several prepaid taxi services available from the airports.
We have also contacted the airports and they've suggested using the transport counter at the airport or directly contacting one of the following taxi companies via WhatsApp. Please let us know if you have any issues when booking your taxis.
- Blue Cab Services: +918956807296
- Taj Taxi: +91 7827266859 / +91 7318597327
- Goacar Self-Drive Car: +91 9860122226
What is the easiest way to travel around Goa?
For short trips it is very easy to rent a bike or a scooter. For slightly longer trips we recommend using taxi services. We normally get the number of a taxi driver on arrival and use the same person for the duration of our trip. Finally, if you are planning on moving from North to South, we would definitely book a prepaid taxi or rent a car.
FOOD FAQs
Can you drink tap water?
No you cannot drink the tap water in India. We recommend buying bottled water from the shops and carrying around with you.
Can you suggest some local restaurants?
Pousada by the Beach, is a short walk along the beach from Goan Heritage Hotel. It is tucked away, so it may require some detective work.
Caravela Cafe & Bistro is a cafe with very good coffee and a mix of goan & european cuisine. They have a cafe in Candolim (walking distance from the hotel) and in Panjim. The cafe is run by one of Yohahn's cousins, Carlos, and his family.
Coastal Crave is also quite good and can be found along the main Candolim road up from Carvellas
Lastly, any of the local shacks along the beach are good!
Can you suggest some local cuisines?
For an authentic goan feel we would recommend the Goan fish thali (signature dish), chicken cafreal (Dorothy finds this spicy!) and the sorpotel (a spicy pork dish eaten with bread, rice or sannas).
You can always ask for yogurt (dai in hindi). Make sure you pair these with a fresh lime soda (you can ask for sweet or salty or a mix) or fresh sugar cane juice!
