OUR STORY
Yohahn knew Dorothy was special the moment she walked into their university job induction, fashionably late, of course. It was their final year of university, and fate had placed them in the same workplace. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond their control (or so they like to believe), they were both "not invited back". However, if this was the price to meet each other, it was well worth it.
Despite their brief fundraising careers, they stayed connected through a shared love of music and cultural dancing—passions that still shape their lives today. After university, Dorothy moved to Spain while Yohahn ended up in the slightly less sunny Glasgow. A year later, they both landed in London, where they remained friends—oblivious to the fact that the person they had been searching for was right in front of them.
Then, in true rom-com fashion, everything clicked!
Their roles soon reversed, and it was now Yohahn who was always late—so often that Dorothy learned to bring her school marking along while waiting (true story). However, it was hard to mind when he arrived with that infectious energy and sweet smile. Then came COVID: long phone calls, virtual game nights and socially distanced picnics in the park. What a great start to any relationship!
Post-pandemic, travel was limited thanks to a mix of global restrictions and an Indian passport. As a result, their love story unfolded through romantic getaways to exotic destinations like... Bournemouth. However, they soon realized that it didn’t matter where they were, as long as they were together.
Fast forward to Christmas, a year later. Yohahn took Dorothy to Goa for the first time, where they attended midnight mass in the same church where their wedding will be held. They spent their days swimming, playing cards, and drinking Feni at Pedro’s shack—the very spot where the beach day will take place.
Now, here we are, ready to celebrate this adventure with you in a place that has become so special to us. We can’t wait to share these moments, and definitely some Feni, with you in Goa!

FOOD FAQs
Can you drink tap water?
No you cannot drink the tap water in India. We recommend buying bottled water from the shops and carrying around with you.
Can you suggest some local restaurants?
Pousada by the Beach, is a short walk along the beach from Hotel Goan Heritage. It is tucked away, so it may require some detective work.
Caravela Cafe & Bistro is a cafe with very good coffee and a mix of goan & european cuisine. They have a cafe in Candolim (walking distance from the hotel) and in Panjim. The cafe is run by one of Yohahn's cousins, Carlos, and his family.
Coastal Crave is also quite good and can be found along the main Candolim road up from Carvellas
Lastly, any of the local shacks along the beach are good!
Can you suggest some local cuisines?
For an authentic goan feel we would recommend the Goan fish thali (signature dish), chicken cafreal (Dorothy finds this spicy!) and the sorpotel (a spicy pork dish eaten with bread, rice or sannas).
You can always ask for yogurt (dai in hindi). Make sure you pair these with a fresh lime soda (you can ask for sweet or salty or a mix) or fresh sugar cane juice!
